In an emotional episode of TLC's "All-American Muslim," one that was filmed on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a group of Muslim-Americans from Dearborn, Mich., addressed the memories and difficult feelings the day stirred up for them.
For police officer Mike Jaafar, that included the grief he feels when he thinks of the officers who didn't survive the event.
"(Sept. 11) has become a day that becomes not only proactive for law enforcement, but a very thoughtful, special, sad day," Jaafar said with tears in his eyes. "You know, you think about your guys that work for you going into a building and not coming out. That's it. There's nothing else to say."
The penultimate episode of the season also sees Nina Bazzy-Aliahmads express her anger and frustration at what terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden did to the country and, by association, to the Muslim community.
"This is a religion of peace, and the fact that this guy came into the picture and wanted to speak on behalf of all Muslims in the world ? it was terrible," she explained. "It was the worst feeling for a Muslim."
"All-American Muslim" airs Sunday night at 10 p.m. on TLC.
